Swart Redelinghuys Nel was established as a law firm in 1969 and has been practicing as such since then. The firm has earned a strong reputation for competence and dedication in our areas of expertise. Jan Nel obtained the degrees, B Iuris and LLB at UNISA, LLM (Corporate Law) at RAU, a postgraduate Diploma in Labour Law (cum laude) and a Diploma in Insolvency Law and Practice at UJ. Admitted attorney, notary and conveyancer. He is the specialist editor (Practice) of the publication by Lexis Nexis: Close Corporations and Companies Service JJ Henning et al. He is an examiner of the Legal Practice Council for the attorneys’ board exams. It was an appointed arbitrator and acted on the fees’ committees of the Law Society of the Northern provinces.
He joined the company in 1975 and attends to all matters of the law with special emphasis on High Court and Magistrate’s Court litigation, arbitrations, mediations, commercial matters, corporate affairs, companies, close corporations, partnerships, contractual damages claims, delictual damages claims, personal injury claims as a result of motor accidents or otherwise, medical malpractice suits, insurance matters, contracts, divorces, family law and children’s disputes, sequestrations, liquidations, rehabilitations, local government affairs, labour matters, trusts, testaments, and estates.
Trynko Malan

Trynko Malan obtained both his degrees, namely, B Proc and LLB at the North West University and joined the company as a director in 1986. He attends to all matters that the company attends to with special emphasis on conveyancing, administration of deceased estates and property law.

Sanet van Breda obtained the degrees, B.Art et Scientia (Planning), BA Honns and MA (Economics) at the Potchefstroom University, the LLB degree at the University of South Africa and the MA (Drafting and interpretation of contracts) at the University of Johannesburg. She is a registered professional town planner, attorney and conveyancer and is the author of the series, “ABC in Town Planning” in the De Rebus.
She has been appointed as a magistrate in an acting capacity in Sebokeng Magistrates Court (2019) and Krugersdorp Magistrates Court (2020 and 2021). She is a commissioner of the Small Claims Court and has been registered as a court annexed mediator in 2014. She joined the company in 2002 and her fields of expertise relates to litigation, both in civil and criminal law, the law of contracts, family law, including divorces, all aspects of child law, maintenance and domestic violence; harassment, property law, including town planning and neighbour law etc.
Geraldine Joubert

Geraldine Joubert obtained the LLB degree, cum laude, at NWU, and joined the company in 2009. She was awarded numerous subject awards including, Property Law, Criminal Law, Public Law, Procedural Law and Commercial Law. She also received the award for the Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyer medal, Phatshoane Henney medal and special award for excellent academic achievement, for graduating top of the faculty of law.
She attends to most matters that the company attends to with special emphasis on Consumer Law, Credit Law, Family law and divorces, High Court and Magistrates’ Court Litigation, Contracts, Construction law, Delictual and damages claims. In 2013 she was admitted as a Notary Public. In 2017 she obtained a master’s degree in Consumer Law at NWU. In 2020 she completed her Court-Annexed Mediation training and qualified as a certified mediator. She is also a mentor in the mentorship program for the South African Chapter of The International Association of Women Judges.
Linda Conradie

Conveyancer
Linda Conradie obtained her LLB Degree at the North West University. She is an admitted Attorney and Conveyancer. Boston Business College awards for best paralegal student and best student overall. 15 years in legal practice. Her field of expertise focuses on Deeds Office transactions, including contracts, transfers of properties, bond registrations, servitudes, registration of trusts, drafting of wills and testaments.
Refilwe Tlali

Refilwe Tlali obtained the LLB degree at UNISA and joined the company in 2015. She served under a 5-year contract of articles and has worked in both the conveyancing and litigation departments. She was admitted as an Attorney in 2021 and is currently a Professional Assistant in the litigation department.
